The WordPress read more text or continue text is found as a link after the content of each blog post on a blog listing page. By clicking on read more or continue the visitor can read the full post.
You can change the text of the link to whatever you choose by using one of the two code snippets below.
These snippets are to be placed inside your theme or, better yet, your child theme’s functions.php file.
If you want to learn how to create a child theme check out this tutorial on YouTube.
// Replaces the excerpt "Read More" text by a link
function modify_read_more_link() {
return '<a class="read-article" href="' . get_permalink() . '">Your Read More Link Text</a>';
}
add_filter( 'the_content_more_link', 'modify_read_more_link' );
// Replaces the excerpt "Read More" text by a link
function new_excerpt_more($more) {
global $post;
return '<a class="read-article" href="'. get_permalink($post->ID) . '"> Read the full article...</a>';
}
add_filter('excerpt_more', 'new_excerpt_more');
