How many times have you come across websites which show their social media followers count close to their icons? It looks pretty cool, and it is also useful and attractive for their visitors. In the last few years, it has become a trend to display your social media followers count on your website. Here’s an example of what I’m talking about:

How can you do it if you have a WordPress blog? Is it possible to do it without writing any code? Yes, and in this article we will show you how to display social media followers count in WordPress.
Getting started
The first thing you need to do is to search for the Social Count Plus plugin for WordPress. Install and activate it. Once the activation is complete, simply go to Settings, click on Social Count Plus, and you will enter your social media profiles.
Start by entering your Twitter username. Do not add the @ sign, simply use your username. You will need to get a Twitter consumer key, as well as a consumer secret, access token, and secret keys. You can get all of them pretty simply from the Twitter Develop page, where you can also create a Twitter App. It may sound difficult, but do not worry, we will show you how to do it. Here’s a video tutorial on how to create your Twitter Developer’s account. Creating a Twitter App is outlined below that.
If you don’t have a Twitter account yet, set a username and a password, and login immediately. Click on your profile picture, and then find the My Applications button. If you don’t have any apps, simply click on Create New App. Start by giving a name to the app, add a description, and enter the URL address of your website. Check the “I Agree” box, and Create Your Twitter Application button.
The next step is to go to the API settings tab, where you get access to your token by clicking the Generate my access token button. When it is done, click on the Test oAuth button. The next screen should give you the keys; simply copy and paste the Social Count Plus to your WordPress site.
When you finish with the Twitter keys, add the Facebook page ID, from the Edit Page settings. The rest of them are pretty simple; just add YouTube, Google Plus, Instagram, SoundCloud, and any other pages you have. Do not forget to Save the changes when you are done.
Choose a Design
You will notice that Social Count Plus has several different design settings you can choose from. You can even change the text color, and choose a layout that matches your needs. Click the Save Changes button when you are done.
Display the Social Count on WordPress
There are several ways you can display the social count on your WordPress site: you can use a widget, template tags, or shortcodes. You can even add it to your blog’s sidebar. The plugin already has several shortcodes and other functions that will make everything easy for you. Feel free to explore it!
