The internet has evolved into many different things, and social media is one of the most popular things that are associated with the internet. When it comes to social media, there are a lot of different apps and widgets, but the ones that are created for WordPress are in the limelight. Social media tabs or widgets were created to save space on a webpage and still deliver results.
For Beginners
Not everyone is computer savvy, and that’s okay. Tab based social widgets are essential for many different reasons, and it’s imperative you have them somewhere on your website. Creating a tab based social widget can be a complex task to complete, and the interface isn’t friendly if you aren’t sure of what you are doing. Instead of creating the widget on your own, you can use applications that will help you create your tab based social widget and generally do the work for you.
Enabling Your Widget
Enabling your tab based social widget for WordPress can be tricky, but when you follow a few simple steps you will have your widget setup on your site in no time. In order to enable your widget, you will first need to go to the Appearance tab, and then right click your mouse on the Widgets tab. Both of these tabs are located in the WordPress dashboard. Next you will find the available widgets section, and then find the framework for your widget which will be located in the social networks tab.
Once you have selected your available widget, drag the framework for the widget into the area you would like. In this example, the area would be “social networks”. You will notice that there are five to seven social media networks within the widget. Every icon that appears will have two options. These options are for the label and the URL.
When you are enabling your widget, you have total control of how the widget appears and what the widget reveals. There will be three boxes that will allow you to select either the URL or the label or both. Whichever option you select is what will appear on your website.
Enabling Your Icons
When you are ready to enable your icons, make sure both your label and URL fields are complete. Do not leave them blank because the code will not work. If the URL and label fields are left empty, the code will not register and the information you would like cannot be displayed.
Once you have completed these steps, and you are pleased with the way things appear within your social widget for WordPress, make sure you right-click the save button. You may want to click the save button twice to ensure your hard work and codes are safe. When you right-click the save button, you will be able to preview your site and view your current changes.
In the event you would like to make alterations to your widget, keep these steps for future reference.
