Retainer packages are essential for your business because they provide a predictable income stream you can depend on every month. By doing the work and keeping your clients happy, they’ll stay with you for years. But what can you offer monthly? Here are five ideas to get your creative juices flowing. Hopefully, one of these inspires you to create a retainer package sooner rather than later!
1. Monthly Maintenance Packages
A monthly maintenance package ensures your client’s website runs smoothly and securely. It includes regular updates to core software, plugins, and themes. These updates boost performance and patch vulnerabilities, safeguarding the site.
Scheduled backups act as a safety net, allowing quick restoration in case of data loss. Robust security checks identify and neutralize potential threats, providing peace of mind to you and your client.
2. Content Update Packages
Retainer packages focused on regular content updates keep your client’s online presence dynamic. They include services like fresh blog posts, captivating imagery, and updated product listings. This keeps the website vibrant, boosts SEO rankings, and increases user engagement.
Consistent communication ensures content aligns with business goals and trends. Regular updates mean clients can swiftly pivot in response to market changes. Whether updating image galleries or refining product descriptions, these packages help businesses stay competitive.
3. Security and Backup Packages
Security-focused retainer packages protect your client’s data and systems from threats. They include regular malware scans to detect and remove malicious software. Firewall management controls network traffic, preventing unauthorized access.
Regular backups add an extra layer of protection against data loss due to cyber-attacks or system failures. Automated backup solutions and frequent testing ensure valuable information is securely stored and easily recoverable. This comprehensive approach provides peace of mind in an increasingly digital world.
4. Performance Optimization Packages
Website speed and performance are critical in today’s digital age. Services like caching, image optimization, and database cleanup enhance these key elements.
Caching stores frequently accessed data for faster retrieval, reducing load times. Image optimization compresses images without compromising quality, ensuring quick loading times. Database cleanup removes redundant data, improving overall performance.
Offering these services as retainer packages boosts the website’s user experience and search engine rankings. This proactive approach ensures smoother browsing for visitors and sets you apart as a reliable partner dedicated to digital success.
5. Custom Development and Feature Additions
For clients needing ongoing custom development and feature additions, retainer packages are a game-changer. They provide a structured way to enhance projects continuously without renegotiating terms each time. Dedicated hours for improvements mean tangible progress and reassurance for clients.
Custom development within retainer packages allows for an agile approach to project management. Instead of waiting for major milestones or facing unexpected costs, clients enjoy seamless updates and enhancements. This fosters better communication, understanding, and transparency in achieving project goals.
Wrap Up
Retainer packages offer a steady income stream and ensure client satisfaction. Whether it’s maintenance, content updates, security, performance optimization, or custom development, these packages provide value and peace of mind. Start creating your retainer package today and watch your business thrive!

Hi, great article! Are you able to provide any example prices for each?
Thanks,
Harry
Hi Harry,
I hesitated to do that when writing the article because pricing can vary so widely based on what type/size of company you’re pitching, how long you’ve been in the game, etc. And I’m always the first to UNDER CHARGE, lol. So my price recommendations would probably come in low.
The best strategy I’ve discovered that has worked well for me is pick a price that you’re happy with doing a the set amount of work for, then with every customer increase the price by $10, $50, $100, $1,000 depending on the service. Then pay attention to how your new customers respond to the price, manage objections and adjust your price accordingly next time.
That is probably not the best way to do things, but it’s the most comfortable way for me.
